The Tallest Man on Earth

“Where Do My Bluebird Fly?”

Kristian Matsson, otherwise known as his stage name The Tallest Man on Earth, is one of the more interesting modern musicians who draws on folk and blues and makes it his own.

Swedish-born Matsson began listening to Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger at an early age, and eventually he was able to imitate them in his own unique way with his trademark singing style (similar to Dylan).

Additionally, Matsson discovered Nick Drake and his guitar tuning style opened up a whole different world for Matsson and he combined Nick Drake with Bob Dylan, threw in a huge serving of his own talent, and from the concoction grew The Tallest Man on Earth.

I’m a big fan of classic folk and old blues, but I try to keep up with how these genres are changing over time with new artists and ideas. The Tallest Man on Earth is one of my favorite new folk artists, along with Pokey LaFarge, and I can’t wait to see what he continues to come up with in the future.
