I’ve only used a few shave soaps in my time (I usually use oils), but I was intrigued by the Homebrew IPA soap. Rocky Mountain Shaving Co. sent me a sample of their shave soap to try out, and I knew it would be great right from the start. As you may remember from my interview with Jake, he brews his own beer and decided to make soap out of it. This soap is a handmade product by a brand new start-up company, so you know that RMSC gave the utmost care in preparing the soap.
The soap has a wheat-woody smell which is hard to describe. Nonetheless, as with all the RMSC products, it smells great without a lot of junk added in. I lathered up my brush, and it foamed up really quickly.
When I applied it to my skin, the lather didn’t last an exceptionally long time, but it did a great job at lifting the hairs up. The shave was excellent, and paired with the RMSC aftershaves left me smooth and manly-smelling.
Additionally, you can get a good amount of shaves out of just a little bit of soap. I shave every other day, and after 2 weeks my little sample is still going strong. This makes the soap a great value, and at only $15 for 3 ounces, you should get your money’s worth. As if that wasn’t good enough, you can save 10% by using code “egent” when you place your order.
