Basically magic in a bottle.

I’ve tried many different forms of shaving products–shaving cream from an aerosol can, gels, soaps, creams, and even just straight water. Until now, I’ve never used an oil.   However, I should have used this product years ago. American Crew’s lubricating shave oil is one of the best things ever. Yes, I also love Ursa Major’s products, but American Crew offers a totally different experience.

To be honest I didn’t know what to expect from this, so I just dove right in and squirted a dab in my hand. To my surprise, it was totally clear when applied to my face (which explains the lack of photos post-application), and it was very light. It felt like I had… well… oil on my face. Hence the name.

Shaving was a delight because the oil didn’t come off with the razor. As with most shaving products, you shave away the portion of the product that is over the shaved skin. Not so with this shave oil. The product stayed on my face even after I washed my face with water post-shave. While this might sound annoying, never fear. It comes off easily with a wash cloth and leaves your skin really invigorated. The smell (according to Electrolady) is a mixture of wood, cinnamon, and pine needles–and that’s just fine with me.

Overall, I recommend this product to everyone. This is far and away one of the best shaving products I’ve ever used.

Pros

1. Great smell.
2. A dab goes a long way–a single bottle will last months.
3. Leaves your skin feeling great and moisturized, rather than dried out.

Cons

1. Because the oil stays on your skin, it’s hard to tell where you have and haven’t shaved–particularly a problem for daily shavers who keep facial hair at a minimum.
2. A little hard to wash off your face/hands/razor, but easily wipes off.
